Our group of four set off with a ranger who turned out to be the MVP of the whole trip \u2014 friendly, sharp-eyed, and constantly spotting things we would have walked straight past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quick tip before you go: use the bathroom beforehand and pack water, because once you&#8217;re in the forest, there are no toilets until you&#8217;re back at the entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>The trip started with a shuttle bus ride to the trailhead, followed by a quick briefing and our own trekking poles, courtesy of Panbil Nature Reserve. The water is cold, clear, and honestly irresistible after a sweaty hike. The reserve is home to 41 of them, led by one alpha male.
