Smart Retiring in Batam with monthly payment

With tighter curbs on Singapore property, residents are increasingly looking for homes around the region that are in close proximity but cost a fraction to retire while earning  rental income from their HDB.

Retiring in JB is a choice that comes to mind for many Singaporean. But with crime rates ramping up and increasing properties prices due to foreign investment,  many are increasing looking in Batam for properties, that includes a prominent Singaporean footballer, (His name starts with a “F” )

Well Batam as a prospect  ticked all the boxes. One of Indonesia’s Riau Islands (along with Bintan), Batam sits 20km off the south coast of Singapore, and is just a 35- to 45-minute ferry ride away. It therefore makes for a perfect marriage of convenience for commuters, expats working in Batam, retirees, companies or those seeking a holiday home. That might come as a surprise to some, since Batam doesn’t have a reputation as a tropical escape, yet I know quite a few expats there – some have lived there for over 20 years – who really enjoy the lifestyle and the fact that it’s much more affordable than Singapore.

Harbour Bay Residences

Located within a integrated development, Harbour Bay Downtown, it is developed by Citra Buana Prakarsa, one of the prominent developer in Batam, think Far East Organisation of Batam.

With a front facing seaview and surrounded  by amenities such as Ferry Terminal, shopping malls, entertainment, seafood restaurants and offices, it is a self serving community that is only 40 minutes away from Singapore via Ferry.

With Marriot Hotel opening right next it in late 2020 (also developed by Citra Buana) prices are definitely going up.

10 mins walk away from restaurant and bar, also a nice jogging area.
